While dismissal always takes the first couple of weeks to fully settle into place., we have gotten our time down by 30 minutes and expect dismissal procedures to further improve by the end of the week. Below are a few ways you can assist us:
1. For dismissal only, all elementary (K-5) families (except those with ECC students) must use the back/last loop for pick-up. The loop will take you to the elementary main entrance. Please make sure to use both lanes and avoid large gaps between vehicles. This better ensures we are not blocking traffic on Chicot Road.
2. Make sure your Car Rider Tag is visible. You can hang the tag from your mirror or place it on the dashboard of your vehicle. This allows us to call names quickly and speeds up overall dismissal time for everyone. If you have not yet picked up your car rider tag, please stop by the main office for assistance.
3. Review our S.P.O.T.S. expectations for dismissal with your child. This will demonstrate the partnership between home and school and communicate the importance of appropriate and a safe actions during dismissal. One critical component for students is listening for their name to be called. This means all students must sit quietly for names to be heard clearly. Once a child's name is called they are to quickly gather their backpack/personal items and walk to the main door. All S.P.O.T.S. Expectations for this area and their related Leader in Me Habit(s) are attached as a photo. You will also find our Arrival/Dismissal Map for review.
Once again, thank you for your patience and assistance. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Good Evening Chicot Families! Thanks for your patience as everyone gets accustomed to new routines. We promise...the time required for dismissal will get faster with each day! You'll be amazed at the improvements in time by the end of the week. As a reminder, K-5 families will use the last entrance behind the playground for arrival and dismissal. In the morning, only families walking students inside should enter the main parking lot. Thanks in advance for your continued partnership to ensure the safety of all! We are looking forward to another great day.

We will begin dismissal at 2:55 pm. Below are important reminders:
1) Families picking up K-5 car riders must use the last entrance behind the school playground. Follow the paw prints along the fence to our main door.
2) If you have a child at our Early Childhood Center (ECC), you may enter the first entrance to pick-up your ECC child and wait at the top of the steps for your elementary student. We will have a designated staff member assigned to call your elementary student(s).
3) Families do not enter the main parking lot or the building during dismissal. All K-5 families must use one of the above ways to pick up a car rider.
4) Please be patient and remain in your vehicle. It will take longer to dismiss the first few days. We promise we will get faster as everyone settles in with the new school year!
Thanks!

Good Morning Chicot Families,
School starts tomorrow and we are looking forward to the start of an amazing school year! While we recognize a number of families will walk their child to class on the first day, we want to review our arrival and dismissal procedures shared at Meet the Teacher Night. We also ask for your patience during the first two weeks of school, as it will take time for families, scholars, staff, and the traffic light to adjust. The arrival/dismissal map is attached and below are some key reminders to ensure the safety of all scholars and families:
1) All families of K-5 scholars will use the arrival/dismissal loop (last entrance behind the playground) for drop-off/pick-up. If you are making a right turn (traveling southbound) to enter this loop, you will need to be in the left lane.
2) The arrival/dismissal loop is one-way and has two lanes. Both lanes will be used and will merge to one lane near the Chicot Health Clinic. We will continue to use only one lane to unload and load children at the main entrance/front sidewalk.
3) At arrival, only families walking their children into the school or attending a meeting should enter the main parking lot. The main parking lot cannot be used as a drop-off area. At dismissal the visitor parking lot cannot be used for pick-up and will not be accessible.
4) Families with scholars (3 & 4 year olds) in the Chicot Early Childhood Center will use the ECC parking lot and may drop-off their elementary scholar at the same time as their ECC scholar. The elementary scholar will walk down the steps and enter the elementary main entrance. At drop-off, only ECC parents with elementary scholars may wait at the top of the steps for elementary scholars to be called for dismissal.
5) Please drive slowly to ensure the safety of scholars and staff. Remember, cell phone use is prohibited.
Please note, only families of early childhood scholars (3 & 4 year olds) will enter the Early Childhood Center parking lot. All families of elementary car riders (K-5) will follow the procedures detailed above.
Thank you in advance for your patience. We assure you the traffic and the time required for arrival/dismissal will improve greatly after the first two weeks of school. If you have any questions, please call (501) 447-7000.
