The 8th grade students recently completed their study of the classic novel The Outsiders. To commemorate this milestone, they engaged in a celebration that highlighted the timeless themes woven throughout the story.
The students explored the novel's exploration of themes such as social class divisions, loyalty, personal identity, and the universal struggles of adolescence. Through discussions, activities, and creative projects, the 8th graders were able to deeply connect with the enduring messages of The Outsiders.
This celebratory event allowed the students to showcase their understanding and appreciation for the novel's impactful themes. It was an exciting opportunity for them to demonstrate their mastery of the material and share their insights with their peers and teachers.

Our fourth-grade students brought in and began presenting their amazing animal research projects today. The projects focused on the structures of various animals, how those structures function, and how each animal has adapted to survive in their environments.
Students also had to develop a rehoming plan for their chosen animal and create a display showcasing how the animal would be cared for in Little Rock, including the necessary elements for its survival.
Here are a couple of standout examples from their fabulous work!

FHSA upper elementary students were treated to a fun and educational show put on by Parkview as they presented Arkansas Adventures: Small State, Big Dreams.
Students learned about notable Arkansans Florance Price, Korto Momolu, Hattie Caraway, Dimond John, and a lot more!
The students were thrilled to learn about these influential figures and their contributions to history and culture. A big thank you to Parkview's Drama Department and Mr. Sutterfield for providing such a wonderful opportunity for educational fun!

Today, the FHSA Book Club enjoyed a visit from the talented author, Kamilah Cole. During her session, she captivated students with a reading from her novel, So Let Them Burn. The excitement continued as she participated in an engaging Q&A session, where students gained insights into her writing process. To top off the event, Ms. Cole signed a copy of her book for each student, creating lasting memories.
This visit marks the beginning of FHSA's first book study of the year, and students are excited to dive into the story. We would also like to thank the Six Bridges Festival of Books for sponsoring this event. Everyone had an amazing time, and the experience inspired our students!
